Three Ways To Quiet The Inner Critic
The inner critic is real! It shows up in response to imposter syndrome, perfectionism, and all the rules you’re taught about what you’re “supposed” to do to be a good woman, parent, friend, spouse, employee, leader, etc! When you fall short of the standards embedded in those rules, your inner critic swoops in, telling you things like:
You don’t know enough to be here.
You’re being a little too much right now. TONE. IT. DOWN.
Oh my god. I shouldn’t have just said that. It was way too direct. What will people think?!?
Can’t you just get control and lose those ten pounds already?!? What is wrong with you?
You’re behind. You should be doing more, moving faster, and accomplishing bigger things.
It’s all super fun, right?!?
The good news is that you can do something about it. I don’t know that the inner critic will ever go away entirely, but I know from personal experience and working with coaching clients, that it can get quieter.
I wanted to start you on that journey with three practices you can use immediately to quiet the inner critic whenever it shows up so that you can decrease stress and anxiety, and take bold steps in your career and business. And just take a breath and relax!
Here are those three practices:
